Description

SUMMARYSupervises and coordinates activities of tellers engaged in receiving and paying out money and keeping records of transactions in the credit union in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the Branch Manager by conducting the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all functions in the teller department including but not limited to:

SENIOR TELLER

  • Supervise teller staff
  • Responsible for teller staff evaluations
  • Responsible for processing all corrections to accounts
  • Responsible for balancing branch
  • Ensure supply of money for Credit Union needs based on legal requirements and business demand
  • Responsible for counting and processing cash-in from bank (dual control)
  • Responsible for balancing vault and issuing increases to tellers
  • Responsible for processing and shipping coin (coin counter)
  • Research accounts or refer to the Research Department
  • Responsible for knowledge of alarm system
  • Balance ATM System (dual control)—43rd only
  • Process Gates ATM (dual control)
  • Loomis-Fargo (daily shipments)
  • Certified Armor Car (coin shipments)
  • Order supplies for teller area
  • Process Info 24 checks
  • Audit all teller cash drawers weekly / send to Teller Manager
  • Responsible for quarterly bait report
  • Ensure weekly balancing of main vault and report to Teller Manager
  • Secure and load cashier’s checks to printer
  • Responsible for voiding cashier’s checks
  • Sell and close safety deposit boxes
  • Responsible for balancing traveler’s checks/money orders (re-stock to teller line) (dual control)
  • Responsible for balancing Visa machine
  • Responsible for weekly order of vouchers/supplies for teller line for branches
  • Ensure daily processing of night deposits
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Ensures that daily mail posting
  • Responsible for correcting errors and ensuring appropriate flags/holds are placed
  • Compliance with OFAC, and the Bank Secrecy Act

Also supervise the teller staff in the following basics:

  • Receives checks and cash for deposits and payments
  • Verifies the cash received and examines all checks for correct routing/transit number, amounts, and endorsements
  • Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of identification, signature, and account balance.
  • Enters transactions into the computer to record transactions, and issues a computer-generated receipt.
  • Orders daily increase of cash if necessary and verifies amount of strap and individual bills.
  • Decreases cash to vault if cash drawer is over required limit
  • Decreases coin daily to vault
  • Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at the end of shift to the computer print out of daily transactions.
  • Cross-sells FCU products to the membership
  • Process stop payments on member accounts
  • Branch Tellers—open new accounts.
  • Branch Tellers—Process payroll deposits
  • Night Deposit—Under dual control removes deposit envelopes, count the number and log into Night Deposit Book and post

     

  1. Responsible for working cooperatively with all Credit Union departments as necessary.
  2. Regular and predictable attendance.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises employees in the teller department including but not limited to Teller I, Teller II, and Teller III, and others’ as necessary. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of department.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance of the organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a business/financial environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
