The Opportunity:
Give Kids The World partners with over 240 wish-granting organizations around the globe to serve approximately 8,000 families annually. We believe that each member of our team has the ability to help create the perfect storybook experience for the special families we host at our magical Village.
Our Village Vacation Planning team works with our wish-granting partners and their families to ensure that every detail of the trip is planned prior to their arrival at the Village. This internship will give you the opportunity to see behind-the-scenes of the wish experience at Give Kids The World where you’ll discover that “Once Upon A Time Begins with You!"
Commitment:
Ideally able to provide 3-4 days of availability per week (24-32 / hrs per week)
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with pre-arrival communication to wish families.
- Work with Itinerary Coordinators to prepare pre-arrival information.
- Print and prepare weekly mailing of pre-arrival brochures.
- Assist with pre-arrival phone calls and/or emails, if needed.
- Check flights and forms for scheduled wish families.
- Verify flights and forms in Raven/dfolder.
- Email wish-granting organizations to request needed information for wishes.
- Assist with wish audit, as needed.
- Assist with guaranteeing new wishes, as needed.
Physical Demands Beyond Normal Office Environment:
- Must be able to sit in office for extensive periods
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds
- Work flexible schedule if needed and/or extended hours of work
Qualifications and Specific Skills:
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong communication skills
- Must have good organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Education / Experience Required:
- Working towards a degree in Hospitality or Child Life, preferred
Miscellaneous:
- Transportation to GKTW and housing are not provided. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to and from the Village
- Although this is an unpaid internship, students will receive a one-time $300 stipend at the completion of successful internship
- Three internships available annually: January-May; May-August; August-December; there is flexibility in start/end dates
