JOB SUMMARY:

Performs human resources related functions and services in Risk Management to support agency needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from a two (2) year college or technical school; and two (2) years related experience and/or training (Worker’s Compensation claims handling, human resources, safety administration, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to oversee the handling of all workers’ compensation claims for an assigned portfolio.
  • Ability to participate in claim reviews with Third Party Administrator (TPA) to ensure claims are proactively managed to resolution.
  • Ability to coordinate with other members of the Risk Management team to set strategic goals for managing complex claims.
  • Ability to handle and process additional Risk Management functions, to include processing FMLA and Long Term Disability.
  • Ability to serve as a Risk Management representative at offsite meetings and respond to questions from employees, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Must possess meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize information appropriately and have strong organizational management to meet very strict deadlines.
  • Ability to respond to requests for documents and other information. May have to exercise some independent judgment in accordance with public records laws regarding disclosure.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and demonstrate self-initiation to complete special projects when necessary.
  • Above average interpersonal skills with an ability to build working relationships to enhance team productivity and build trust.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication skills and provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, governmental regulations, reports, correspondences, and procedure manuals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience handling Worker’s Compensation claims.
  • Experience working with injured workers and outside claim adjusters.

SALARY:  $37,044/annually to $42,598/annually depending on years of experience.
