HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

Lake County (323,000+), nestled in the heart of Florida, is seeking applications from highly skilled candidates to serve as the City’s next Human Resources Director. 

Lake County operates under a County/Manager form of government with a five-member elected Board of County Commissioners representing five districts in the County. Elected by the County at large, each serves a four-year term, in which the terms are staggered. The Board of County Commissioners serves as the governing body responsible for setting operational and fiscal policy including adopting an annual budget.

The position provides vision, leadership, planning, and project management in all areas of human resources including employee and labor relations/collective bargaining; risk and benefits administration; and training and organizational development programs and processes. The Human Resources Director oversees all human resources activities which includes assuring Lake County’s compliance with applicable employment law; recommending and administering employment policies and procedures; providing guidance to County departments and its employees; interacting with individuals seeking employment with the County; providing employee development and training opportunities, and developing and administering the employee benefits, workers’ compensation, property & liability, and other loss prevention and loss control programs.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree Requires a Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a closely related field with ten years of progressively responsible related experience. Designation as a PHR, SPHR or IPMA-HR certification is desired. Requires a valid Florida driver's license.

Lake County offers a competitive salary range ($79,560 - $131,185) commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental and long-term disability insurance and Florida Retirement System. Optional life and disability coverage as well as paid holidays, annual and sick leave. Relocation expenses may be negotiated.
