This position provides Employee Relations consultation, direction and services to assigned divisions/departments at PSCU.  Incumbent will reside in the corporate office location and manage employee relations issues for assigned business units and more complex employee related matters across the organization.  Serve as a back-up for the Manager, Employee Relations on key employee relations matters.  Provides administrative oversight of all Employee Relations systems and programs. Provides organization-wide guidance on coaching and corrective actions at all levels of leadership. Incumbent will handle unemployment hearings, labor certification processing, and partner with the LOA Administrator in determining case compliance with employment laws and regulatory requirements. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for employee relations issues for assigned business units, including complex employee relations matters.  Provide support to the Manager, Employee Relations during peak periods of increased workload.  Coach, counsel, and guide leaders regarding execution of performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions, up to and including terminations;  ensure notifications regarding terminations are disseminated as necessary. Ensure a strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization. Champion PSCU culture to assigned business units.
  • Manage risks and ensure legal compliance for employee related matters. Conduct regular check-in meetings with assigned business unit leadership; provide guidance and interpretation on policy in the Employee Handbook; ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Risk Office (ERO), Ethics and Compliance Officers conducting sensitive and high visibility employee investigations. Make recommendations on investigation approach and add insight from an employment law standpoint.
  • Skillfully craft written documentation such as; communications to senior leadership, draft new policies and policy revisions; and maintain updates for the Employee Handbook.
  • Conduct organization-wide Employee Relations investigations as needed, ensuring collection and entry of proper documentation, provide appropriate follow-up to involved parties and develop end recommend corrective action plans.
  • Lead corporate level HR program/projects and initiatives.
  • Advises, guides and partners with HRBPs and leadership with reorganizations and reductions in force.
  • Partner with LOA Administrator to support the process for providing reasonable accommodations under the ADAAA. Conduct interactive discussions with employees seeking accommodations, ensure appropriate documentation is received from health care provider, and confer/consult with Manager, Employee Relations to make a determination on appropriate accommodation determination.
  • Serve as a technical advisor in the absence of the Manager, Employee Relations on all aspects of Employee Relations matters. Collaborates with HR and business leadership determining approaches and mitigations addressing organization-wide Employee Relations matters.
  • Prepares and provides required correspondence/information/documentation required for Employee Relations cases, compliance, and preparation involving third party review on employment related matters.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Employee Relations case management system, Employment Law Postings / Notices, and Random Drug Testing Program – including reasonable suspicion cases.
  • Administers and processes labor certification cases and prepares related supporting documents.
  • Represent PSCU at unemployment hearings and serves as a point of contact for subpoena processors, law enforcement officers, and government and regulatory agency officials.
  • Review annual performance reviews for assigned business unit ensuring alignment appropriate documentation to support employee development; consult with HR Business Partners and as training opportunities are identified.
  • Develop, analyze, and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data, identify trends or areas of opportunity and partner with HR Business Partner on action plans.
  • Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices and trends; ensure scalability of service through the establishment and maintenance of knowledge base in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Participate in development of HR department goals, with particular focus on aligning department goals with the business units served and overall company goals
  • Assist HR Business Partners on various functional and cross-functional project work as needed; conduct research,  perform data analysis, and provide other assistance to ensure projects and initiatives comply with innovative best practice
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree HR Management or related field required.  Certification (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
  • Experience:  Seven plus years of experience in employee relations required; to include experience conducting workplace investigations and labor certifications.

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation, benefits, organizational design, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and related laws
  • Solid knowledge of employment law, including federal and state leave laws, ADA, and the FLSA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats with business unit leaders and give persuasive presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids
  • Ability to think strategically and influence with solid business acumen skills, while delivering organizational culture and HR perspectives to enhance informed decision making.
  • Ability to embrace change, and to support and guide others through organizational change initiatives and efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to seek innovation in one’s work, and to develop, sponsor, or support introduction of new and improved methods, products, procedures, and technologies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and other related computer software applications; Ability to learn, function, and generate reports with-in database, HRIS, and third party systems and applications.
  • Ability to travel as needed to successfully perform position responsibilities
  • Ability to navigate organization, interactions, and all channels of internal and external communications exercising confidentiality of information and materials handled
