Job Summary: 

Aides in the application of principles of accounting and, with experience, may handle complex tasks. This position supports accounting functions such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit, collections, budgets, financial planning, general accounting, billing, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Utilizes knowledge of accounting principles related to classifying, recording, and summarizing data and making computations to compile and keep financial records.
  2. Finalizes accounting reports. 
  3. Studies and analyzes accounting records for purposes of preparing statements and reports. 
  4. Keeps and verifies records of transactions; receiving and disbursing money; computing and verifying amounts; preparing records; combining data and performing computations to create statistical records; and computing costs, verifying bills, invoices, rates, tariff, duties, and amounts due.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent certification in business or finance, or equivalent experience of education and experience.
  • 7 years of accounting support experience including increasing responsibilities in one or more major financial areas such as AP/AR, Payroll, budgeting, etc. 
  • Use of finance and payroll systems such as Deltek, ADP, PayChex, etc.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate Level: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office products including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, use the Internet, and use database software at intermediate level of proficiency to create and maintain more complex documents and data entries.  May also work with databases to enter data for reporting through standard or ad hoc reports such as PayChex, Human Resources, Deltek, or other operations software applications.  Must be able to audit, maintain, and create reports through intuitive report writing tools.
