Description:
Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled facilities maintenance duties in and around LYNX facilities and passenger/transit amenities that may include carpentry, plumbing, painting, and maintenance and repair of fixtures, equipment, and machinery.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains, adjusts, cleans, and makes basic repairs to buildings, fixtures, equipment, and grounds.
- Moves, installs, sets-up, and secures machinery, fixtures, and equipment.
- Moves furniture and office equipment.
- Maintains mechanical equipment by diagnosing problems, reading and interpreting blueprints and written instructions including maintenance manuals, determining sequence of tasks, and cleaning, adjusting, repairing, and/or replacing defective or worn component parts.
- Paints walls and other surfaces, and prepares surfaces by patching, sealing, and sanding.
- Cuts, solders, threads, joins, hangs, and mends pipes, plumbing fixtures and fittings, cuts wall and floor openings to accommodate plumbing and fixtures, and clears and services interior drains and outdoor drainage systems.
- Cuts and installs windows, walls and partitions, doors, ceilings, counters, and cabinets including peripheral equipment such as knobs, closures, and locks, and verifies structural uniformity using plumb bobs, levels, and other hand and power tools.
- Repairs, patches, and waterproofs roofs, concrete and asphalt, and other structures and surfaces exposed to weather.
- Organizes, maintains, and updates computer based and paper records such as maintenance records, work orders, work performed, and installation instructions and blueprints.
- Safely operates electrical and air powered tools, pipe fittings, welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical tools, equipment, and/or heavy equipment assigned to the department.
- Repairs or removes bus shelters, benches, signs and poles; provides general maintenance and upkeep of these facilities.
- Removes graffiti from bus stop shelters and benches.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or General Education diploma (GED); plus
- One year of full time training or education at a trade school or apprenticeship program in a directly related area; plus
- Two years of full-time experience performing carpentry, facilities construction and maintenance work, or mechanical equipment maintenance.
- An additional two years of full-time experience performing carpentry, facilities construction and maintenance work, or mechanical equipment maintenance beyond the minimum required may be substituted for one year of full time training or education at a trade school or apprenticeship program.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record.
