Job Title: HVAC/R Technician
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Chief Engineer
OVERVIEW/POSITION PURPOSE:
The position is responsible for ensuring proper installation, use, repair and maintenance of all HV/AC, air quality control and refrigeration equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete all installations of equipment in a timely fashion with minimal downtime
- Perform daily readings on equipment, as needed
- Monitor and control temperatures in villas and public buildings to ensure comfort
- Create, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program to prolong longevity of equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair identified equipment in a timely fashion
- Calibrate all controls, gauges, meters and necessary equipment daily
- Learn, manage and maintain Trane/Tracer program
- Develop and implement quality improvement or corrective action plans
- Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards
- Identify and recommend new ideas, technologies, or processes to increase organizational efficiency, productive, quality, safety and/or cost savings
- Follow the Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals and agents as per Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Additional duties as assigned
- Adherence to attendance standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
- Move up and down a ladder
- Move through narrow, confined, elevated spaces, including attics and crawl spaces
- Ability to work on roof tops and other high areas
- Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands and arms to lift/move objects
- Consistently lift up to 75 lbs., unaided
- Flexibility to work rotating schedules, nights, weekends, Holidays, and/or extended hours of work, when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Possess current EPA certification for handling of refrigerants
- Solid electrical background and experience.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English in order to successfully communicate with families, guests, volunteers and staff
- Must possess reasonable decision-making abilities and be extremely safety-conscious
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Possess current State License for HVAC/R Technicians.
- Good working knowledge of Word and Excel to effectively track, record and communicate data
- Coordinate with, monitor, and supervise outside vendors, as needed
- Able to operate motorized vehicles, including battery-operated carts
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma
- Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree
- Three to four years of related HVAC experience
- Universal EPA certification which includes type 1, type 2 and type 3.
- State License
- NATE certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of wiring, piping, troubleshooting and controls
- Knowledge and experience with power tools
- Ability to operate a scissor-lift and high-reach
