Responsible for job site logistics and operations, traffic controls, supervision, record keeping and assigns individual tasks at job site. Lead work in maintaining and repairing water, sewer and reuse mains and associated meters, lift stations and cross connection control devices and other utility projects. Works under general supervision.
This position is non-exempt. (Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions will apply.)

Primary Duties: These job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as deemed necessary.
- Supervises and participates in the work of utilities crews engaged in the repair, rework, and maintenance of the water, sewer and reuse infrastructure.
- Performs repairs and maintenance on lift stations infrastructure including pumps, pipes and electrical panels.
- Performs repair and maintenance on laterals, mains and manholes. Installs water service lines/mains and repairs breaks.
- Performs routine maintenance on fire hydrants per AWWA and City standards.
- Flushes hydrants, exercises valves and performs pressure and flow tests of fire hydrants.
- Installs and changes out water and reuse meters and cross connection devices.
- Leads Utility Worker in job performance, equipment usage and safety practices.
- Operates various heavy and light equipment including backhoes, crane truck, dump trucks, etc.
- Responsible for job site logistics and operations, traffic controls, record keeping and assigns individual tasks at job site.
- Implements and enforces City personnel policies, departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains telephone service/communications and may be placed on emergency call outs. May be required to work rotating shifts, on call duties and extended hours in emergency situations.
- Develops and designs various solutions to engineering problems; seeks alternatives to designs and approves engineering plans.
- Oversees the preparation of plans and specifications and the negotiation and administration of contract documents for City projects.
- Acts as project manager on contracted projects, including inspections, cost management, schedule coordination and monitoring of contract terms and conditions.
- Be able to read maps and as built plans.
Minimum Qualifications: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field.
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Underground utility experience in construction and maintenance. One (1) year experience in the maintenance of sewage pump stations and water system components.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Class 3 Water Distribution Certification or Class "C" Collection Certification; with the other license being obtain within one (1) year of advancement.
- Obtain a restricted Class "B" Commercial Florida Drivers License with air brake and tanker endorsements within 180 days from date of employment.
- Obtain a Class "B" Commercial Florida Drivers License with air brake and tanker endorsements within one (1) year from date of employment.
- Certified in Traffic Control and Safety in the work area preferred
- Certified in Trenching and Excavation preferred
- Certified in Confined Space preferred

Environmental Conditions
Works outside that could be in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, and rain) for moderate periods of time and exposure to construction and water/wastewater site hazards, traffic, and moving machinery. Involves working with high voltage equipment, and heights and below ground.
