The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida invites applicants to apply for a Judicial Process Technician – Temporary Employee.

JOB SUMMARY:

Receives paperwork and supporting documentation; this could include items such as court minutes, court orders, writs, warrants, and records requests. Confirms information/status of reports and researches discrepancies (e.g., performs monthly validations and/or statistical reports to ensure accuracy of records). Enters data into and retrieves information from the appropriate data base. Runs queries, modifies records, and flags files in databases such as FCIC/NCIC and Tiburon. Receives and screens telephone calls to determine whether personal attention is required; answers questions or routes to appropriate individuals. Provides information and documents to courts, citizens, outside agencies, and other law enforcement personnel. Answers routine questions and assists individuals with paperwork as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
  • Accredited high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Must be FCIC/NCIC certified within six (6) months of accepting this position, depending on assignment.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and various database applications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized applications (e.g., the Tiburon Records Management System), to perform basic functions in Outlook, and research information using the internet.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task within established time-limits (e.g., simultaneously handle multiple phone lines and perform data entry with minimal errors).
  • Ability to present a positive image in person and over the phone.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and customer service skills with the ability to work well with others.
  • Must have basic problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to learn, understand, express, apply, and demonstrate knowledge of relevant Florida State Statutes as well as agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to receive paperwork and supporting documentation to include court minutes, court orders, writs, warrants, and records request.
  • Ability to research information requests received (via teletype, telephone, mail, and in-person inquiries) and to provide information to the public, courts, outside agencies and law enforcement personnel.
  • Ability to confirm information/status of reports and research discrepancies (e.g., performs monthly validations and/or statistical reports to ensure accuracy or records).
  • Ability to enter data and retrieve information from the appropriate data base as well as run queries, modify records, and flag files in databases such as FCIC/NCIC and Tiburon.
  • Ability to receive and screen telephone calls to determine whether personal attention is required; answer questions or routes to appropriate individuals.
  • Ability to perform other clerical duties as needed (i.e., photocopying, faxing, filing, collating) as well as processing releases of defendants from incarceration, depending on area assigned.
  • Ability to maintain familiarity with procedures outside of primary assignment and within unit (i.e., judicial process, criminal process, transportation/extraditions) and assist these units when needed.
  • Depending on assignment the employee may be required to work evening, midnight and/or weekend shifts, as the unit must be manned by this position 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Shift times may vary.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
