Technician A (Body Shop)

Description of Work

This position will independently perform all areas of maintenance repairs, adjustments and modifications of structural, body and cosmetic repairs on transit buses and automotive equipment for safe operation.   
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Carries out all structural maintenance, repairs and adjustments.

Works from written or verbal instructions, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, vendor manuals and manufacturer’s specifications to accomplish work.

Masks and sands body panels.

Repairs and replaces all body panel
and structural components.

Fabricates body panels and other bus parts.

Welds bus frames and supports.

Mig welds, arc welds, gas welds and cuts.

Uses plasma and torch cutting equipment.

Replaces windshield and glass.

Installs and repairs vinyl and contravision.

Repairs artwork and graphic.

Primes and paints using single stage, base coats, tri coats and clears.

Repairs and replaces floors and interiors.

Fabricates seat cushions, re-upholsters and repairs seats.

Cleans and services body shop equipment.

Responds to emergency road failure requests.

Completes other duties as assigned.
