EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, J. DOUGLAS WILLIAMS YMCA FAMILY CENTER

The YMCA of Central Florida is seeking a dynamic change agent with proven related operations leadership experience as the Executive Director to direct and oversee the J. Douglas Williams YMCA Family Center in Lake Mary, Florida. Located in the Orlando suburb, serving the Lake Mary and Longwood communities, the 30,000 square foot facility sits on 10 acres and recently underwent renovations to the parking lot, pool and group exercise areas. There are approximately 57 staff; including five exempt leadership positions.

The incumbent must have proven related experience managing daily operations; with budget responsibilities of at least $2.5 million. S/he must be a team motivator with the ability to create an environment that delivers world-class customer service, grows membership sales acquisitions and improves retention. This individual will direct and supervise all aspects of the family center operations, including an annual support fundraising campaign.

Candidates will be challenged to provide a successful track record in comparable fiscal management including the growth of revenue sales and the execution of innovative programming in the areas of wellness, group exercise, personal training, sports, youth development and aquatics; resulting in a greater impact to our members. S/he must be a leader in the community; attending events and representing the Y and its core mission and cause. The incumbent is responsible for recruiting key community leaders and board members; create and implement a well-conceived development/fund raising plan to achieve short-term and long-term objectives, and will lead the initiative by marshaling the resources of the board, soliciting private donations and high-level donors (individuals, corporations and foundations). This individual must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate relationships and build rapport. A key objective is to expand the capacity of operational performance and grow membership to serve the community by engaging individuals in the Y’s three areas of focus: healthy living, social responsibility and youth development.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; management, operations management, sports business management or related field of study preferred.
  2. Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in operations management in health and wellness is essential, responsible for a related budget is required; YMCA operations management experience strongly preferred.
  3. Proven experience managing, recruiting and working with a volunteer board required; including leading a comparable fundraising campaign and working closely with major donors, key stakeholders and partners. 
  4. Minimum 3 years of related experience executing successful programs in wellness, youth sports & aquatics; with proven trends in growth of revenue and membership participation.
  5. Minimum 3 years of proven related experience leading operations of comparable membership revenue; with positive trends year over year in membership acquisition and retention.    
  6. Microsoft Office proficiency required; Salesforce CRM, Technogym experience a plus.
  7. Proven experience implementing innovative solutions for improving payroll management; resulting in a positive impact to the bottom line.
