The premier Dr. P. Phillips Y in Orlando is seeking a part-time Sport-Trainer. This position is responsible for providing high quality sports training, excellent customer service, and product knowledge to members in a safe and clean environment. S/he should have flexible availability to work hours based on business needs; that may include mornings, evenings and some weekends. 

Preferred Availability between Monday - Thursday; 5 PM - 7 PM

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborate with the Program Director and Registrar to promote, organize and manage tryouts, clinics and programs.
  2. Assess and select team for each season, if playing tournaments and competitive leagues.
  3. Create and implement player development expectations and curriculum for assigned team(s).
  4. Leadership role in designing age specific session plans with assigned team(s) to implement at practice, in conjunction with the player development plan.
  5. Provide direct teaching leadership to each sports program participant in each class of instruction.
  6. Remain current with industry standards and trends.
  7. Document player progress.
  8. Seeks new participants to serve on a continual basis.              
  9. Greets and develops friendly, professional relationships with all program participants.
  10. Remain alert and attentive to all members on the field.
  11. Respond promptly and appropriately when rescue or first aid is necessary.
  12. Enforce all safety rules fairly, consistently with tact and respect.
  13. Ensure cleanliness of equipment and facility.
  14. Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.
  15. Remains up to date on emergency procedures and family center policies.
  16. Participates in member retention, special events and fundraising.
  17. Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Central Florida in the Family Center and its programs.  

JOB REQUIREMENTS

To be successful, you must meet education, training and experience requirements, and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and abilities:

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High School graduate or equivalent required, Associates or Bachelors in related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 1 years of demonstrated training experience in relevant sport.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of coaching relevant competitive sport (Ex. FYSA, GCF, YMCA, FHSAA, NCAA, MLS, etc.).
  4. Minimum of 2 years playing relevant college or professional sport.
  5. Required coaching certification through USSF, US Youth Soccer, NSCAA, USA Basketball Gold License, YMCA E-Learning, American Coaching Academy and Positive Coaching Alliance.
  6. Previous customer service experience required.
  7. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
  2. May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms.
  3. May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment.
  4. Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and members’ well-being.
  5. Must possess auditory, verbal and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person.
  6. Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment.
