Asstistant Manager, Health Information Management (First-Full Time), HIM Operations at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) - req21993
Coordinates and organizes all activities within the Health Information Management Department under the direction of the Corporate Service Line/ Service Line Manager, or Designee.
Associate degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Business, Healthcare Administration of a closely related field;
or Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent and one following:
o The American Health Information Management Associations (AHIMA) Independent Study program
o An approved Medical Transcription or Coding Program,
o Two (2) years of college courses in Health Information Management or Cancer Registry Training.
One of the Following:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by the American Health Information Management Association
Certified Medical Transcription
Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CDHS) by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI)
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Association of Professional Coders.
Six (6) months of experience in the Health Information Management field or related health care or customer service setting.
A Bachelor or associate degree in Health Information Management may substitute for up to six months of the required experience.
Supervises and coordinates staff activities to meet the department goals and objectives and maintain adherence to policies and procedures.
Reviews department performances and implements changes to improve services, simplify workflow and activities, needs and problems.
Monitors and submits daily, monthly and quarterly statistics as well as performance indicators as requested.
Participates in various personnel functions including hiring, orienting, training, assigning work, coaching and counseling team members.
Develops competencies of team members.
Coordinates team member scheduling ensuring adequate staffing to meet departmental goals and turnaround times.
Coordinates processes to ensure that the department operates within the allocated funds.
Coordinates, participates and maintains quality assurance, process improvement, safety and infection control procedures in conjunction with the Corporate Service Line Manager/ Service Line Manager, or Designee.
Establishes and maintains department records, reports and files.
Maintains compliance with all accrediting and licensing requirements for the department.
Researches hospital technological resources to see if they can be beneficial to the departments
Able to coordinate (or work) with other HIM areas for projects or other areas for improvements.
Attends in-services on behalf of the Corporate Service Line Manager, Service Line Manager, or Operations Manager.
Supervises team members (minimum 2) within department.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
