The Landscape & Natural Resources Department invites well-qualified candidates to apply for the role of Manager, Irrigation & Installation. This position is responsible for managing all landscape installation and irrigation needs for the University of Central Florida including planning, design, installation, monitoring, and overseeing computer software and programming (Maxicom) and associated components for the irrigation system and delegating and overseeing the installation and irrigation team members.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
 

  • Establishes and oversees preventative maintenance inspections for the University's irrigation system, including monthly inspection of DSOs, including all associated parts such as Central Control Units, controllers, master valves, flow meters, electric, and manual control valves, irrigation heads, wiring, lines, etc.
  • Oversees the installation of new reclaimed water infrastructure, including pipes, booster pumps, and as-built survey for irrigation, and all other greywater supply within 3' of the building. Ensures compliance requirements are met for Water management District and Orange/ Seminole counties for reclaimed water, including water restrictions.
  • Compiles and maintains data for campus landscape projects, such as images of landscapes, the number of newly installed landscapes, and maintenance requirements. Responsible for record-keeping such as labor hours, materials, work order completion, and job records of all assigned tasks in the work management system.
  • Coordinates specialized landscape, horticultural, and irrigation equipment purchases with appropriate vendors. Oversees purchases of landscape materials. Obtains quotes from vendors abiding by UCF purchasing guidelines and GC quote policies.
  • Responds to campus emergencies involving critical University infrastructure including irrigation, reclaimed water systems, and booster pumps, outside of normal operating hours.
  • Oversees the plant material kept in the LNR Nursery. Other duties as requested by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a university setting or location similar in scope.
  • Background in irrigation across large scale properties.
  • Degree in ornamental horticultural, landscape design, or equivalent.
  • Exemplarily communication skills.
