Located in Ocoee about 11 miles west of the downtown Orlando Health campus, the 212-bed Orlando Health Health Central Hospital provides comprehensive medical and surgical acute care for the families of west Orange County communities. The hospital has earned Spine Surgery, Joint Replacement and Primary Stroke certification from The Joint Commission. Also located on the expanded Orlando Health Health Central campus is a 30,000-square-foot comprehensive cancer center with clinical programs and services for patients and families. The cancer center became the only facility in Central Florida, and only the sixth in the nation, to offer MRIdian therapy, which allows for more precise treatment of cancer tumors through real-time magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during radiation beam therapy. The Orlando Health Center for Rehabilitation, which includes a 60-bed rehabilitation unit, a 40-bed Alzheimers unit, a 10-bed hospice unit and outpatient rehabilitation services, also is located at the Orlando Health Health Central campus. The hospital also provides services at the Orlando Health Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion Horizon West in nearby Winter Garden.

Education/Training:

  • Associate of Science in Nursing degree (ASN). For RNs hired prior to January 1, 2020: Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: New Hires and Team Members who are new to the RN II level placed in this job on or after June 28, 2020 must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) within 36 months of placement.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
  • Meets all mandatory and developmental requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
  • National Certification in area of practice (see unit specific requirements for specialty certification) after 2 years of practice.
  • One (1) year as an acute care, hospital RN. Based on area of assignment, specialty courses and specialty experience may be required.
  • Able to meet job duties and requirements of Clinical Nurse I. Must meet unit-specific performance competencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Assesses patients needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses. Evaluates the patients progress toward attaining expected outcomes.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/ department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective of the patients status, and interprets the necessary information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to age-specific
    needs.
  • Coordinates the care and delegates as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients.
  • Documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards. This includes but is not limited to patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit/ department-specific requisite skills.
  • Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
  • Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
  • Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patients needs and the team members capabilities and qualifications.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members.
  • Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
  • Functions as a patient and family advocate.
  • Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
  • Integrates patient and family education throughout the delivery of care.
  • Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patients rights.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions:

  • Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings.
  • Collaborates with management team to identify professional development needs.
  • Serves on hospital, department, and/or nursing committees as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
