Associate Professor, Fire Fighting

Seminole State College of Florida is accepting applications for a full-time Fire Fighting Associate Professor in our Fire Science Department beginning Summer Term 2021. This position is a regular full-time, Bargaining Unit teaching position on track for continuing contract.  The standard contract length is 196 days; however, other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs. Assignment will consist of teaching Fire Academy, PSAV, and CWE courses as required. Administrative duties will consist of assisting in coordination and delivery of Fire Fighting PSAV programs.

Salary is based on education and related work experience in accordance with the Salary Schedule in Article 26 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications: 

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or closely-related field with at least two levels of certification from recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in the field

Option 2: Bachelor’s degree with at least two levels of certification from recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in the field

Option 3: Associate degree in Fire Science or closely-related field and at least two levels of certification from nationally recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in the field

Option 4: Associate degree and at least two levels of certification from nationally recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in the field

Option 5: Career certificate in Fire Science with at least two levels of certification from nationally recognized industry leaders and appropriate documented work experience of at least six years in the field

Desired Qualifications:

1. Master’s Degree in Fire Science or related field.

2. Two years’ experience teaching Firefighting or related classes.

3. State of Florida Fire Inspector I certification.

4. State of Florida Fire Officer I and II.

5. Fire Investigator I certification.

6. State of Florida Pump Operator certification

7. Experience in the development and delivery of "Distance Learning" programs.

8. Experience as a company officer or chief officer level.
