Clinical Department seeking for certified, experienced and customer service-oriented Medical Assistant for a high volume and well-established GI practice in Orlando.

Education/Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school required.

Licensure/Certification

  • Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification – and
  • Maintains current certification by one of the following agencies:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (www.aama-ntl.org)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) (www.amt1.com)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (www.nhanow.com)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (www.ncctinc.com)

Essential Functions

  • Assist the physicians in daily activities such as: running clinics, triaging phone calls, and processing tests results.
  • Rooming patients and obtaining all pertinent documentation such vitals, current medications, allergies, pharmacy, test results, past medical history, and medical records.
  • Maintain exam rooms cleaned before and after patients visits.
  • Obtaining prior authorizations for medications.  
  • Setting up patients for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Crohn’s disease treatments.  
  • Checking out patients by providing medication samples, consent forms, orders, referrals, prescriptions, and educational literature to patients.
  • Travel to satellite clinics as needed.
  • Making phone calls to patients to obtain additional clinical information for chart completion.
  • Assist physicians during patients’ examinations as needed.
  • Assisting patient walk-ins.
  • Processing normal and abnormal tests and biopsies results according to protocol.
  • Processing prescription requests, refills, and prior authorization electronically.
  • Retrieving tests results from hospitals, labs, and imaging facilities.
