Job Description:

This position is responsible for coordinating and providing operational control of activities conducted by the COI and HRPP-QI Assessment Programs within the ORC. The individual in this position is expected to handle complex analysis and communication tasks. Advises faculty members, other researchers, department/college administrative staff, and the Research Conflict of Interest Committee with the interpretation and applicability of regulatory documents relating to COI and HRPP-QI programs.

Responsibilities include:
 

  • Responsible for regulatory review of Potential Conflict of Interest or Conflict of Commitment disclosure forms submitted by UCF faculty, post-doctoral associates, executive personnel, other identified university employees, and affiliates/subrecipients engaged in sponsored and non-sponsored research.
     
  • Responsible for ascertaining when a conflict of interest or commitment in research exists and when additional COI documents and/or additional review by University authorized reviewers are required.
     
  • Obtain, analyze, and manage data from internal and external repository databases to meet university and/or sponsor COI reporting requirements. Prepare reports and manage document files and other records as applicable.
     
  • Responsible for initial review and processing of COI-related documents such as monitoring plans, annual updates, and exemptions.
     
  • Manages administrative functions of the Institutional Financial Conflict of Interest Committee, including but not limited to regulatory guidance and facilitation of COI disclosure review actions of the members.
     
  • Implement and conduct the HRPP-QI Assessment program. Develops, executes, and maintains audit schedules. Schedules, prepares, and conducts systematic reviews that evaluate researchers' compliance with approved protocols, federal regulations, and guidance regarding the protection of human subjects. Tracks, collects, and reports outcomes of the HRPP-QI Assessment program.
     
  • Responsible for fielding, researching, and responding to ad hoc research compliance-related inquires. Uses judgment to refer pertinent issues to the Associate Director.
     
  • Assist, complete and manage special assignments/projects related to audits, inquiries, investigations, assessments, or special reporting actions.
     
  • Maintain knowledge of federal regulations and statutes as they pertain to COI, RCR, Human Subjects Research, and Research Misconduct.
     
  • Assists in the development, revision, and/or implementation of written policies and procedures that foster and enhance compliance in research.
     
  • Participates in professional activities, trainings, national meetings, and seminars.
     
  • Perform other duties as required or deemed appropriate by the Associate Director or Director.

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The schedule may vary as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in research administration and/or previous experience in an IRB Office.
     
  • Knowledge of grant and contract administration processes and procedures, federal and state laws relating to conflict of interest, responsible conduct of research, and human subjects protections.
     
  • Experience analyzing information from a variety of sources, identifying concerns, defining alternatives, and developing recommendations.
     
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
     
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
     
  • Proficiency in Excel.
