VIDEO PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Full Time Monday - Friday 8:00 am - Friday 5:00 pm

MAJOR FUNCTION
Performs, under limited supervision, the technical work associated with the production of various television programs, board meetings and videos that involves set design, studio setup and tear down, master control operations and camera operations. Some creative writing, developing, producing and editing video.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Professional television production support, with duties assigned based on skill and need. Grips for videographer and multi-camera productions by handling broadcast equipment and setting up as directed. Videotapes in the field with ENG equipment, using tripod or hand-held as needed.
Runs switcher, audio board and/or remote cameras for live and recorded boardroom meetings, build digital graphics for televised meetings. Set-up and tear down studio for shows. Performs master control functions: switching programs on-air and encoding videos into computer playback system. Set up PA system and other audio-visual equipment for county events, meetings and functions. Perform light engineering and/or equipment maintenance as needed. Edit with non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere) and creates videos with related industry- standard computer programs.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Premiere and After Effects
• Ability to work effectively with commissioners, employees and assist the public cooperatively and courteously
• Ability to see, talk, hear sounds at a normal level, ambulate independently, bend, stoop, climb up and down steps, sit and stand for long periods of time. Required to lift and carry video production equipment weighing an average of 25 pounds. With assistance, will be required to help lift video production equipment an upward range of up to 200 pounds (infrequently) into the production vehicle.
• Maintenance and repair of audio/video equipment, ability to trouble-shoot computers, software and HD video systems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma or GED. One (1) year video production experience or education required.
Must have a valid driver license and be able to secure and maintain a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Will be required to work flexible schedules outside the normal routine; evening and weekend productions are typical assignments.
When circumstances demand, such as impending or declared disaster (i.e. hurricanes, tornados, flooding, etc.) the person filling this position will be expected to be available to participate in the Polk County Emergency Management Plan. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, providing staffing coverage for all aspects of communications and/or any other duties that are deemed critical to assure the citizens of our county are provided with the necessary services during and after a disaster. The Emergency Management duties may require the employee to be away from their home and family for several consecutive days.
This position may be required to report to work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
