The Opportunity:

The Compensation Partner, under limited supervision, serves as a subject matter expert in compensation to staff and management. The Compensation Partner will engage in a broad range of activities that supports the university's ability to compete for talent and maintain a competitive edge as it relates to talent rewards.

Responsibilities:

  • As a strategic partner, provides consultation to various institutional units regarding compensation decisions and workforce plans. This includes the ongoing analysis, and subsequent recommendations related to job establishment, job classification and maintenance, job slotting, and department reorganizations.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of various data models aimed at ensuring the university is approaching incumbent pay decisions in an equitable manner. Generates ad hoc and regularly scheduled reports related to compensation and classification. Leads the participation in various salary surveys.

  • Serves as a principal analyst to assigned units on matters concerning employee compensation, which includes providing recommendations on internal equity and parity inquires, market adjustment requests, and various incentive/pay strategies.

  • Provides interpretation of university policy, bargaining agreements, guidelines, and practices related to compensation to campus stakeholders and partners. Provides input into the development and revision of university salary administration guidelines.

  • Leads special projects such as campus-wide pay increases and other initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Knowledge of best practices in Human Resources.

  • Industry certification such as (S)PHR/SHRM-(S)CP is preferred.

  • Knowledge of best practices in Classification and Compensation.

  • Industry certification such as Compensation Analyst Credential (CAC) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)

  • Previous compensation experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to work on many projects simultaneously and be detail oriented.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking.

  • Demonstrated experience in effective time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

  • Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
