$1,000 SIGN ON INCENTIVE

The Facilities Management Division is seeking a highly qualified Maintenance Technician. The
primary function of this position is performing highly skilled work maintaining, replacing, altering, and
repairing landscapes, hardscapes, and irrigation systems and work on retention ponds.  In return, we

Representative Duties

  • Performs quality assurance inspections of contracted landscape contractors for assigned facilities.
  • Performs grounds inspections of County properties to ensure landscapes, sidewalks, parking lots, and storm water drainage systems are in proper working condition.
  • Performs repairs of landscapes, sidewalks, parking lots, irrigation systems, and storm water drainage systems.
  • Document daily work/travel on hand-held electronic device for the purpose of maintaining maintenance records.
  • Checks and maintains assigned facility, equipment or system for preventive maintenance and critical operation factors.
  • Multi-trade assignments and responsibilities based on daily operational needs.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent and three (3) years of experience years performing highly skilled journeyman level work, maintaining, installing, altering, and repairing landscapes, hardscapes, and irrigation systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Must possess a valid Class E Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
  • May be required to perform mandatory Emergency Standby Duty.

Preferences

  • Applicants with a High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Proficient in the repair and replacement of irrigation systems and electrical and hydronic
  • systems.
  • Proficient in the repairs of sidewalks, parking lots, storm water systems, and landscaping.
  • Applicants with strong journeyman level plumbing skills.
  • Applicants with knowledge of building maintenance in a multi-trade environment on facilities, buildings and building systems. 
  • Selected candidate must be willing to be sent on maintenance calls and assist other skilled trades’ personnel when needed.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment
